Translation
English translation Here lies the reverend and noble sir Keimpe van Hottinga of Kee, parish priest in Nijland. He died in the year of the Lord 1535 in the month of January on the day of the kings.
Dutch translation Hier ligt de eerbiedwaardige en edele heer Keimpe van Hottinga van Kee, pastoor in Nijland. Hij stierf in het jaar des Heren 1535 in de maand januari op de dag van de koningen.

Additional remarks • The day of the kings is the feast of Epiphany on January 6. • The Kee (or Kie) estate near Franeker was owned by the Hottinga family. Kempe's great-grandfather was named Epe Jarichs van Kee. He took on the name of his wife Foockel Goslicksdr van Hottinga.
