Short history of the building stages <1300: There are some remnants of the understructure of the thirteenth century tower. <1400: The original tuff stone church was enlarged during the fourteenth century (perhaps 1311). 1449: Construction of the late Gothic church after a city fire. The size of the church is connected with the important pilgrimage which took place to St Jeroen's shrine at Noordwijk. 1901-1904, 1970-1975: Restorations.

There are richly decorated memorial tombs, for example in memory of Jan van der Boeckhorst († 1450) and Florys van der Boeckhorst († 1509). Also a twelfth-century sarcophagus has been preserved.
