Additional remarks Roman Catholic theologian, mathematician and astronomer who originated from Kampen. He studied philosophy and theology in Louvain and completed his studies in Cologne. During his studies he was taught by Adrian of Utrecht, later Pope Adrian VI. He followed Adrian to Spain and Rome and was the mathematics teacher of Cardinal Alessandro Farnese, later Pope Paul III. In 1535, pope Paul III appointed him provost of the Janskerk (St John's Church) in Utrecht, where he had been a canon since 1524. Pigghe died in Utrecht and was buried in the Janskerk.
