Additional remarks Gerit was a son of Marten Jan Peters and Elisabeth van Berck. He studied at Louvain University but probably never graduated there and eventually settled in 's-Hertogenbosch. Gerit became an ordinary member of the Illustrious Confraternity of Our Lady in 1532/3, and a sworn brother in 1558/9. His great-aunt was Sophia van Berck, with whom he shared a grave.
