Additional remarks Pelgrom van Driel was the son of the goldsmith Gerit Pelgrom van Driel and his first wife Christina van den Vosberch. He became a sworn brother of the Fraternity of Our Lady in 1477/78 and was made a priest in the following year. He made many journeys for the Fraternity and also held a benefice of the altar of St Andrew in the church of the local Beguinage. In 1511 he was recorded as rector of the altar of SS Anthony Abbot and Sebastian in the church of St John. He had two known illegitimate sons. His date of death is uncertain: the inscription appears to indicate 8 March 1516 [= 1517], but contemporary records point to a funeral mass on 13 December 1516, which makes it likely he died during that month.
