Translation
English translation This son of the viscount of Leiden, the distinguished provost and protonotary of the pope, Dirk van Wassenaar, lies buried here in this tomb. Let us pray that he is god (?). And his human nature died in thousand and five, twice three times ten, in adddition to four times hundred (1465) on St Mark's Day (April 25) at the first ninth hour. May he be given the gifts of life.

Argumentation the person is being commemorated
Additional remarks
Additional remarks Memorial text including an appeal to the viewer to pray for the commemorated person. Transcription and translation of this difficult inscription are provisional. Maybe the last sentence has to be read as 'Detur sibi vite dona'. The formulation of the year of death betrays an underlying chronogram. Buchelius's transcription appears to be negligent in places.
