Additional remarks Ghysbert van de Pol was a wealthy merchant who purchased his citizenship of 's-Hertogenbosch in 1467. His parents were Arnt Peters van de Pol en Johanna Claes Boumans. In 1484 he took part in a meeting in Eindhoven as one of the delegates of the city council. His first wife was Margriet, a daughter of Arnt Dircx van Driel, who probably died in 1472-1473 although the slab states 1468 as her year of death. By 1475 Ghysbert had married Beatrix van den Hezeacker as his second wife. He is known to have had at least four children: a daugher by his first wife, two more daughters by his second wife, and an illegitimate child.

Additional remarks Margriet was a daughter of Arnt Dircx van Driel and the first wife of the merchant Ghysbert van de Pol. In 1472-1473 Ghysbert and Margriet became ordinary members of the Illustrious Confraternity of Our Lady in 's-Hertogenbosch and accounts of the fraternity indicate she died that same year although the date given on this slab is 1468.

Additional remarks Beatrix was a daughter of Engbert Wouters van den Hezeacker and his wife Aleyt Lamberts van Doerne. She became the second wife of the merchant Ghysbert van de Pol, who died in 1502; the couple had two daughters, Johanna († 1558) and Postulina († 1515/16). Around 1510 she married another local merchant, Ghysbert Gerits van der Schout, who died in 1534 or 1535.
