Additional remarks Gerit van Loeken (or Lueken) alias van Vechel originally came from Veghel where his father Gerit Mathys van Loeken was alderman. In 1508 Gerit went to Louvain where he obtained his degree of magister artium and chose a career in the church. By 1510 he was probably already rector of an altar in the parish church in Uden and later he obtained a benefice in St John's church in 's-Hertogenbosch where he had joined the Illustrious Confraternity of Our Lady as an ordinary member in 1513. He was buried near the altar of St Andrew.
