Additional remarks Frans was born around 1493 to local alderman Lambert Bogart and Margaretha Jan Ghysberts van den Heuvel; his brother, the priest Jan Bogart, was buried elsewhere in St John's church. Frans was a woollen cloth merchant and eight times alderman from 1532, as well as sworn brother of the Illustrious Confraternity of Our Lady; he was buried in the Confraternity's chapel. He first married Adriana van Roy, a daughter of cloth merchant Lambert Maess alias van Roy. After her death in 1558 he married Catharina, a daughter of local alderman Willem van Oss and already the widow of Jacob de Cock. Frans had no legitimate offspring but left an illegitimate daughter, Lamberta.
