Provenance
Provenance For a detailed description of the history of the manuscript, see Kuys e.a. 1983, xx-xxvi. In 1538, the Chronicon Tielense was mentioned in St Martin's church in Tiel. In 1554, a library ('musaeum') was founded at the church, where the manuscript was kept. At least during the years 1628 to 1634 and in 1654 it was kept in the town hall of Tiel. In 1715 it was in the private library of Hendrik van Lidt de Jeude, town councillor of Tiel, from whom it passed into the possession of D.R. van Bassenn. Before 1753 it passed into the hands of Cornelius Walraven Vonck (1724-1768) from Nijmegen, who in 1768 sent the book to Johan Diederik van Leeuwen in Tiel. Van Leeuwen published the sixth book and the continuation of the Chronicon Tielense in 1789. In 1845, the heirs of J.D. van Leeuwen bequeathed the manuscript to the town of Tiel.
