Completeness Incomplete: a fragment. The shape of the tablet suggests that it was originally surmounted by a religious image. The lower right corner of the tablet is missing.

Additional remarks The memorial piece was unearthed together with two skeletons (see photo). It is unknown whether one of these skeletons is the actual skeleton of Bertoldus Ponc.

Additional remarks According to Broer and De Bruijn, Bertoldus Ponc may be identified as the Bertoldus/Bartoldus Pont or Bertoldus de Traiecto (Bertoldus of Utrecht) who is mentioned in several archival records. He was chantry priest of St. Maartenskerk/Domkerk (St Martin’s Church/Dom Church) in Utrecht, canon in Sint-Odiliënberg (1350s and 1360s) and rector of the altar of St Catherine in the church of Borgloon (ca. 1380). On 22 October 1379, Pont was present at bishop Florens van Wevelinghoven’s taking of the oath in Utrecht.
