Additional remarks
Additional remarks • The Van der Lindt family originated from Dordrecht. The painting shows 14th-, 15th- and 16th-century members of the family who kneel towards an altar on the left, which is flanked by angels. Its most famous member is portrayed at the lower right: Willem Damasz van der Lindt also known as Wilhelmus Lindanus, bishop of Roermond. • Museum Huis van Gijn in Dordrecht owns a 16th- or 17th-century painting showing the devotional portraits of Arend van der Lindt (d.1380), Willem van der Lindt (d. 1406), Jan van der Lindt (d. 1458) and his wife Engel van der Burch. The four portraits are identical to those on this painting.
