Short history of the building stages <1100: Foundations of an eleventh-century tuff stone church, and possible remnants of an older wooden church, were discovered during excavations in 1961. <1500: A Gothic church of brick was built in the fifteenth century. 1791: The dilapidated choir was demolished. 1806: Restaurations. 1836: Collapse of the spire during a storm, which severely damaged the church. 1839: Construction of a new church, incorporating the old tower. 1931: Due to lack of space, a new St Michael's Church was built elsewhere in the village. The old church was demolished in 1932, with the exception of the tower.
