Phases in the institutional history The church is mentioned in a document of 838 when count Rodgar gave the St Catharine's Church to the St Martin's collegiate church (Utrecht). The priest and parishioners of the St Catharine's church in Doetinchen are again mentioned in 1200.

Short history of the building stages <1400: Construction of the choir (tuff stone) in the fourteenth century. 1400-1450: Construction of the transept and nave (pseudo-basilica). 1527: Construction of the hall church. Construction of the side-aisles alongside the tower. Enlargement the tower (constructed ca.1200) , construction of two entrances/portals and side-chapels (choir). The choir (heightened) and nave were placed under one roof. 1945: Demolition of the tower due to a fire. 1961-1963:Restoration, reconstruction of the tower.
Additional remarks Part of the inventory are two small bells made by Andreas Josephus van den Gheyn (1767 and 1769), a pulpit (1744) and numerous memorial tombs; for example in memory of Frederik van Baer (†1622) and Judith Ripperda (†1636).
