Additional remarks
Additional remarks In the painting all types of people are walking towards the Fountain of Life (Christ) to receive Holy Communion. They are kings, bishops, knights and other members of the nobility, poor and handicapped people, women as well as men and children. In the foreground Jan Clemenz. is kneeling down with a chalice in his hands. He is surrounded by members of the clergy including high ecclesiastical office-holders and members of religious orders. The men have pride of place (on the right-hand side of the religious scene). The original frame shows attributes of the Passion and persons involved in the Passion of Christ.
