Additional remarks The two heraldic shields have been linked to Albrecht van Hogendorp, whose shield consisted of a combination of the two charges that are depicted on the triptych, namely a lion and a mill wheel. Lammertse (2008) suggests that Albrecht may have commissioned the triptych to commemorate his parents Dammas (Thomas) van Hogendorp and Margriet Albrechtdr. van Raephorst.

Completeness The triptych may have been accompanied by a memorial text and heraldry on the frame(s) and/or a separate text panel. Incomplete: the wings have been cut down at the top, while the central panel has been cut down at the bottom. The background on the three panels used to form one continuous landscrape.
Condition In overall fair condition
Conservation The heads of the Virgin and Christ Child have been heavily retouched. The sky on the three panels shows much overpaint.
