Person Description

Personal identification number
Personal identification number 2460
Personal details
Name Hendrik van Swol
Sex male
Year/date of birth
Year/date of death 1574/10/10
Additional remarks Also known as Hendrik van Zwolle. He probably joined the convent in Haarlem in or after 1520. He was the coadjutor of Simon van Sanen. He was one of the few commanders after Willem van Schoten, who did not remain in function as commander until the day of his death. Instead he resigned in 1571, due to his age and bad health (he suffered from dementia). His date of birth is uncertain. There is mention of a Hendrik van Zwolle who was a priest in the 'Werffummer cloester' (convent in Warffum). If these individuals were one and the same person, and Hendrik became a priest at the age of 25, then he must have become at least 91 years old.
