Condition
Conservation After seven stained-glass windows from the choir of the church of the Convent of Stein in Gouda were relocated to the St. Janskerk (1580-1581), all of the glass was assembled into one single window. When the windows were restored to their original state in 1923, the heraldic shields of three Canons Regular were randomly distributed over three windows, since it was unknown which shield(s) belonged to which portrait. See also: ‘Ascension of Christ with devotional portrait of Willem Jacobsz.’ and ‘Descent of the Holy Spirit with devotional portrait of Thomas Hermansz.’, MeMO Memorial Objects IDs 896 and 897.

Additional remarks
Additional remarks Robert Jansz. was involved in the transfer of Canons Regular from the Convent of Emmaüs in Stein (Zuid-Holland) to a convent in the centre of Gouda, which was previously occupied by Bridgettines. On this occasion, the Gouda convent was renovated and its sacristy adorned with eleven stained-glass windows, including one donated by Robert Jansz.. After the demolition of the convent church in 1580, seven of the eleven stained-glass windows were relocated to the St. Janskerk (St John’s Church), where they were installed in the choir of the church. In 1934, the Van der Vorm kapel (Van der Vorm chapel) was built especially to house the seven stained-glass windows.
